Edward Raymond Machicek, Sr., 90, of Taylor, Texas, passed away on September 23, 2017 in Granger, TX.
Edward was born in Hallettsville, Texas to Agnes (Mozisek) and Joe L. Machicek on March 23, 1927. He grew up in St. Mary’s community, west of Hallettsville, Texas. Edward married Lillie Mae Okruhlik on October 17, 1955.
He was a member of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He grew up on the family farm and made farming a life-long occupation. He enjoyed gardening, working with his fruit trees, and his Oliver Tractors.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Edward Joseph Machicek, brother and sister-in-law Johnnie and Agnes Machicek of Yoakum, sister, Agnes Dostalik of Houston, and brother George Machicek of Schulenburg.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Mae Okruhlik Machicek, daughter, Anna Machicek of Taylor, sons, Henry Machicek and wife Susan of Granger and Edward Raymond Machicek, Jr. of Temple. Brothers, Joe Machicek and wife Mary of Shiner, Willie Machicek and wife Gladys of Shiner, Alois Machicek and wife Joyce of Hallettsville, Anton Machicek and wife Leona of Halletsville, sister, Frances Berger and husband Louis of Victoria, sister-in-law, Lorine Machicek of Schulenburg, brother-in-law, Ervin Dostalik of Houston. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, are also left to cherish his memory.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 9:00-10:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor, TX followed by a mass at 10:30 A.M. burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Taylor, TX.
Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews: Allen Machicek, Andy Machicek, David Machicek, Jody Machicek, Paul Machicek, and Steven Machicek.
