Zane Hyzak

September 1, 1970 — June 25, 2021

Zane Hyzak, 50, of Las Vegas went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, June 25, 2021. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family after a strong and courageous battle with cancer.

Zane Channely Scruggs Hyzak was born on September 1, 1970 in Houston to Allen Scruggs and Pat Herzer Moseley. She grew up in Taylor with one younger brother, Robert, and thoroughly enjoyed all the friendships she made playing tennis, “cruising the drag”, attending Debonaires’ dances and growing up in Taylor. Zane graduated from Taylor High School in 1988 as an honor graduate and attended the University of North Texas, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design. She married her high school sweetheart, Randy Hyzak, on April 29, 1995 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor. Zane and Randy were blessed with three children: Zachary, Isabella and Jacob. Zane worked in interior design and “retired” from Leo A. Daly’s Dallas office to be a full-time mother, which was by far the greatest joy of her life. Zane devoted herself to her three kids as a volunteer leading school galas; taking her kids to lessons, practices, performances and games; being a team mom and without question their teams’ loudest supporter. Zane was also extremely devoted to her family whether playing dominos or taroks with grand-parents; poker and scat with in-laws, nieces and nephews, and cousins; annual family trips to the Texas coast; or the “occasional” trip to the casinos with her parents, family or friends. Finally, Zane was always the “life of the party” planning and hosting parties for New Year’s Eve, Mardi Gras and birthdays, as well as the never-ending impromptu get-togethers.

Zane is preceded in death by her grand-parents, Hollis and Helen Scruggs, Roy and Rose Herzer and several uncles she loved dearly. We are sure they are all reunited in Heaven around a good game of dominos or taroks.

Zane is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Randy; children, Zachary, Isabella and Jacob; father, Allen Scruggs; mother and step-father, Pat and Rick Moseley; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Carla Scruggs; father and mother-in-law, Bernard and Henrietta (Dolly) Hyzak; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dwayne and Kristi Hyzak, Greg and Angela Hyzak and Chad and Brenda Cox; and nine nieces and nephews she loved with all her heart.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm and a Rosary at 7:30 pm on Friday, July 2, 2021. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 10:00 am, Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Taylor.

The family would like to thank everyone for all the prayers and support provided to Zane over the last 2 ½ years. It was a great help to Zane as she travelled the journey chosen for her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Zane Hyzak’s name to fund osteosarcoma research at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, to Faith Lutheran Middle School & High School in Las Vegas or to The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist.
