William Lynn "Bill" Davis III, age 80, of Seabrook, Texas "went home to be with the Lord" on Monday, August 7, 2023. Bill was born in Paris, Texas, to Mildred Louise Davis and William Lynn Davis, Jr. He grew up in Taylor, Texas, and graduated from Taylor High School in 1961. Bill was an outstanding football, basketball, and baseball player for the Taylor Ducks, where he met the love of his life, Kathryn Marie Groba, as she cheered on from the sidelines. Bill went on to graduate from Texas A&M with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1965. He and Kathy spent fifty years together raising their children and watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
Over his career, Bill worked for Celanese, Lonza and Morton Thiokol, where he engineered, designed, and built chemical plants. An avid bowler, Bill competed in leagues for many years and once bowled a perfect game. Bill loved his parents’ Lake Travis lake home and enjoyed water skiing there. He shared his love of skiing and sports with his children. In their later years, Bill and Kathy loved to travel and roam the USA in their motorhome. When not doing that, they spent their time watching their grandkids play soccer, baseball, basketball, and volleyball all over the state of Texas.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; sister, Dee Dee Kloppe; and his parents, all of whom he confidently anticipated seeing again in heaven.
He is survived by his three children: daughter, Amber Leger and son-in-law, Randy; daughter, Emrie Wilkes and son-in-law, Mont; son, William Lynn "Trae" Davis IV and daughter-in-law, Bohnnie. Nine grandchildren: Ashley Farris (Bret), Angie Vowell (Spencer), Ana Porter (John Michael), Frank Viscariello, Sam Lounsbury, Rachel Wilkes, Colton Wilkes, Walker Davis (Shelby), Cannon Davis, and thirteen great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 PM, Friday, August 11, 2023, immediately preceding the funeral service at Providence Funeral Home, Taylor, Texas.
