Virginia Ann Heine

December 19, 1941 — December 22, 2024

Virginia Ann Heine, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed peacefully into eternal rest on December 22, 2024, reuniting with her husband of 62 years, Donny Heine, who preceded her in February of this year. Virginia’s life was a testament to love, devotion, and faith.

A homemaker for most of her life, Virginia also contributed her talents outside the home, working at Alcoa, the Texas Education Agency (TEA), and later as an administrative assistant for Thorndale ISD. Her dedication and work ethic were admired by all who knew her.

Virginia’s passion for sports was unwavering. Whether cheering for the Thorndale Bulldogs or the Texas Longhorns, her enthusiasm was infectious. Her love extended to her canine companions, including her cherished Australian Shepherds, Honey and Sugar, who brought her endless joy.

An avid gardener, Virginia loved working outdoors, tending her yard with care and pride until health challenges prevented her from continuing this passion. Despite her struggles, her unwavering faith in God guided her, often praying for relief and comfort in her later years.

Virginia leaves behind a void that will be deeply felt by her family and the community she cherished. She is survived by her daughter Dawn Dorsett and husband Paul; her son Darren Heine and wife Dayna; and her grandchildren: Zach Heine and wife Audrey, Elise Lawhun and husband Ryan, Chase Mahlmann and wife Stephanie, Jacob Dorsett and wife Maddie, and Jessica Dorsett and fiancé Jay Thomas; siblings Peggy Westbrook and husband Johnny, and Ronnie Patschke and wife Joyce, a long with their families. Her legacy also lives on in her great-grandchildren: Briggs, Weston, Rylie, Adalyn, Creed, Cash, and Chance.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Olga Szalasny, Dr. Franklin Chang, and the dedicated cardiology, nephrology, and pulmonology caregiver teams for their compassionate care. Special thanks also go to her home caregiver, Tammy, and the team at Accent Home Health for their tireless support and kindness during Virginia’s final years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lupus Foundation of America in honor of Virginia’s memory, to support research and aid for those dealing with this dehabilitating illness.

Virginia’s enduring love, gentle spirit, and faith-filled heart will forever remain in the memories of those who were fortunate to know her. Her life was a blessing, and her absence leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of all who loved her.

May she rest in peace, reunited with her beloved Donny, and find eternal joy in the arms of her Savior.
