Ted Wilhelm was born on March 9, 1937 in Taylor Texas the son of Emil and Gertrude (Strarup) Wilhelm. He attended Thrall High School and enjoyed playing football for the Thrall Tigers. He married his High School sweetheart Evelyn Merkord on September 23, 1954. Ted was a devoted husband who loved to fish and spent many hours at the lake and coast fishing with Evelyn. Together he and Evelyn appreciated good music and took pleasure in going dancing. He was always ready to help his sons with home improvements and other woodworking projects. Ted was a skilled carpenter and his attention to detail and craftsmanship are evident in all that he did. Until his retirement he worked at Calcasieu Lumber Company in Austin for 35+ years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Theodore Lorenz Wilhelm Jr, daughter Mary Jean Wilhelm, son David Michael Wilhelm, sister Dorothy Price, brother Vohn Wilhelm.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Wilhelm, son Ted R Wilhelm and wife Charlotte of Bastrop, son Chester Wilhelm and wife Janet of Elgin.
He is also survived by six Grand-children: Amber Wittenborn, April Cmerek, Justin Wilhelm, Tanner Wilhelm, Dillon Wilhelm and Ryan Wilhelm; and six Great-Grand-children: Hailey Wilhelm, Parker Cmerek, Alaina Wittenborn, Mason Cemerk, Barret Wittenborn and Brody Wilhelm.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at the SPJST located at 5025 FM619, Taylor Texas.
The family has requested that any memorials be made to the church of your choice.
