Sylvester Stoglin Jr. left this world for a better place February 24th, 2018. There he will land the big catch, find winning slot machines, spot Big Foot & see the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl, all while riding his Harley. He loved traveling with his wife Leslie & would happily get in the car without knowing the destination, always assuming a casino & a stop at Stripes were included. As he said about their travels "We always had fun". He was looking forward to visiting the remaining 9 states they had yet to see. Sylvester was a kind man who happily greeted everyone with a smile. He shared his passion for fishing with his children & grandchildren. What many did not know was that Sylvester was also a fashion critic & enjoyed people watching everywhere he went. And if you ever end up on Wheel of Fortune, remember his strong admonition "DON'T BUY A VOWEL"!
Sylvester retired from the City of Taylor & enjoyed four brief years of retirement.Drinking coffee every morning at "The Club" offered him an opportunity to see many former co-workers. He thought so much of these men & Leisha, who ran the office. He hoped to be able to return to work after his surgery.
Sylvester was born to Pearl & Sylvester Stoglin Sr., the fifth of 12 children. He grew up in a loving home & his siblings were with him to the end. Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Pat Stoglin, his sister Louise & brother James. He is survived by his wife, Leslie Basco Stoglin, his children Robert Stoglin, Patrick (Candi) Stoglin, Adam (Shannon) Basco, & Adria (Derek) Purvis. Also surviving are grandchildren Kofi, Karis & Kado Stoglin, Naomi Stoglin, Jesse Garza, Jeremy, Jared (Maranda) & Jacob Cummings & 8 great-grandchildren.
Sylvester had the privilege to be brother to Annie Penson, Rubye (Norman) Patterson, Mae (Raymond) Hattley, Renee (Billy) Clark, Faye (Lloyd) Corley, Lester (Rae) Stoglin, Willie (Lowanda) Stoglin, Perlinda Crayton & Karen (Calvin) Crawley and numerous nieces & nephews.
