Sonia Lisa Cruz

April 9, 1971 — October 8, 2021

Sonia Lisa Cruz, youngest daughter of Natividad, Cruz, Jr. and Juanita Morin Cruz unexpectedly passed early Friday morning, October 8, 2021 in Round Rock, TX, at the age of 50.

Sonia was born on April 9, 1971 in Georgetown, TX.  She graduated from Round Rock High School (Round Rock, TX) in May 1989.  Following high school, she attended Roffler School of Hair Design and received her barber’s license sometime in 1990.  Unfortunately, when she was around the young age of 22, she was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (Lupus), an auto-immune disease and, it significantly and adversely affected her during most of her adult life.

Sonia was single and although she never had children of her own, she had a tremendous love and affection for her nieces and nephews.  She was an amazing aunt to all of them. For the largest part of her adult life, she was an employee of Sears Teleserv, a large call center located in Round Rock, TX and, for the last few years, she was employed by St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center as a PBX Operator/Receptionist.

Sonia is survived by both of her parents as detailed above and three siblings, all of which reside in Round Rock, TX:  Melissa Cruz Gonzalez (Juan Gonzalez); Cynthia Marie Ledesma and, Rolando Rene Cruz (Cyndi Cruz), as well as, the following nieces and nephews:  Rudy D. Reyes, Jr. (Jennifer Reyes) of Round Rock, TX; Ashleigh Marie Ledesma (Stephen Rayos) of Elgin, TX; Dylan Spencer Cruz (Kiannie Cruz) of Austin, TX; Kimberly Rene Arredondo (Gabe Arredondo); Stephanie Lynn Robles (Daniel Robles) and finally, one great nephew:  Abram Alexander Reyes.  Sonia is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Samuel Ledesma (Cynthia Marie Ledesma), formerly of Hutto, TX.

The funeral service will be livestreamed and accessible via Facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/taylorprovidence

and a reception will follow at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites located at 180 Carlos G. Parker Blvd. NW, Taylor, TX 76574. Chaplain John Ellis of the St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center will officiate the ceremony. Family and friends are welcome to attend to help celebrate Sonia's life.
