Sanjuanita "Janie" Oviedo

March 13, 1949 — May 29, 2021

SanJuanita Oviedo (Janie), 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, May 29, 2021, in Bartlett at 4:15 pm.

SanJuanita was born March 13, 1949, in Bryan Texas. She was the first born of 13 siblings. She attended SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church and only made it to the 10 th grade due to having to work with her family at their farm. Years later she met the love of her life Lorenzo Oviedo Sr. With this marriage she gained two sons, Lorenzo Jr & Arthur Ray and an added four followed, Joe Henry, James Edward, Rebecca Ann, and Marie Cresencia.

Janie worked at Ca-Ce-Len in Granger as a seamstress for 25+years. Her hobbies included bringing her work home and making her kids their school clothes. Weekends were spent at her mom's house with her siblings to pass time. If you ever tried calling her, you would probably get a busy signal, then we knew she was on the phone with her sister Tomasa, another hobby of hers. With age she loved reading her bible, going to church when possible, getting visits from her children and grandchildren and eating barbacoa tacos. If she knew anyone was going to Mariachi’s in Taylor, she knew she was going to eat good.

Janie is preceded in death by her husband of 45 loving years Lorenzo Oviedo Sr, 2 granddaughters Meagan & Vicki LeeAnn Oviedo, 2 brothers, (Baby)Joe Garza, Guadalupe (Cowboy) Garza, 2 sisters, Mary Garza and Virginia Nava and her mother, Maria Nava.

Janie is survived by her children Lorenzo Oviedo Jr. of Bartlett, Arthur Oviedo & Wife Diane of Taylor, Joe Oviedo of Bartlett, James Oviedo of Taylor, Rebecca Martinez & Husband Galdino of Holland, and Marie Cruz & Husband Juan of Bartlett. Her siblings Tomasa Wright, Susana Fletcher, Altagracia Walker, Dora Garza, Enrique Garza, Eleno Garza, Raymond Garza and Andrew Lopez. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and 2 special ladies in her life, Teresa Perez & Mary Montalbo.
