Ruby Lillie Schroeder

Ruby Lillie Schroeder, age 93 of Thorndale, passed away on April 20, 2021 in Taylor, TX.

Ruby was born on March 1, 1928 in Thorndale, TX to Walter and Olga Patschke.  She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale where Rev. F. H. Stelzer baptized her on March 18, 1928, confirmed her on April 6, 1941, and officiated at her marriage to Marvin Niemtschk on June 1, 1947.  They had two children, Ronald Ray and Patricia Gayle.  Ruby was widowed at the age of 50 and was blessed with a second marriage to Norris Schroeder on September 8, 1979.

Ruby was preceded in death by husband Marvin, son Ronnie, parents, two brothers, and two sisters.  She is survived by her husband Norris, daughter and son-in-law Patricia and John Meiller, 4 grandchildren and their spouses: Paul and Alison Meiller, Randall and Marti Niemtschk, Mark and Ashley Meiller, Crystal and Eric Pena, 8 great grandchildren, and two brothers Howard and Walter Patschke and their spouses, Jan and Linda.

Ruby enjoyed being a homemaker, dancing with Norris, singing, playing 42, and giving and receiving hugs.  At St. Paul Lutheran church, she was a member of the LWML since 1953.  LWML projects she worked on included making quilts for World Relief, singing for Rest Home Devotions, and putting together braille books for the blind. She also was a longtime member of the Firemen’s and VFW Ladies’ Auxiliaries.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 25 ^th , 2021 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 26 ^th , at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale, Texas. She will be laid to rest at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
