Roy Reyna Rangel, 48, of Taylor passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and children on Sunday, August 16 th , 2020.
Roy was born on March 7, 1972 to Raymond and Elena (Reyna) Rangel. He grew up in Elgin with his three older brothers and one younger sister. Roy graduated from Taylor High School in 1991. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Salazar). Together, they had three children: Sandra, Roy, and Matthew. Roy worked at ERCOT in Taylor for many years and took pride in his career. He loved to have fun with his family and enjoyed taking trips to the beach, parks, and lakes. Roy liked to take his kayak out to the lake and loved to go swimming at Barton Springs in Austin. He also enjoyed photography and was always capturing the special moments. He participated in various events such as the Spartan Race and Warrior Dash. He also was involved in the Taylor community, serving on the board of the Taylor Housing Authority for several years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus council #10012. Roy also volunteered his time coaching both of his son’s baseball teams at all ages. He was always up for new adventures, cracking jokes, and was a firm believer in God.
Roy is preceded in death by his grandparents and brother, Dolores “Lole” Rangel. He is survived by his lovely wife of 28 years, Patricia Rangel; children, Matthew Rangel, Sandra Castro (Richard), Roy Rangel (Alyssa); parents; Raymond and Elena Rangel; siblings; Paul Rangel (Judy), Gilbert Rangel (Sonya), Esther Rangel (Chuy); and numerous nieces and nephews, Roland Rangel, Bobby Cruz, Elena Soto, Breeana Rangel, Julianna Rangel, Lyndon Rangel, Joy Segura, Grace Segura, Jocelyn Salazar, Aivery Salazar, Kade Salazar, and Evan Hewtty.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Providence Funeral Home with Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Elgin Latin Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Roy Rangel, Richard Castro, Paul Rangel, Gilbert Rangel, Daniel Salazar, Frankie Camacho; Honorary pallbearer, Matthew Rangel.
We would like to thank Dr. Weathers at MD Anderson, Dr. Levacic & Dr. Tran at Baylor Scott & White, and Three Oaks Hospice for their love and comfort especially Laurel and Reina. We would also like to thank our family, friends and our community for all the love, support, and prayers for Roy.
