Roy James Meiske

May 26, 1935 — May 31, 2024

Roy James Meiske, 89, of Cameron, Texas, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday May 31, 2024. Born May 26, 1935, in Taylor, Texas to his parents, Alma and Eckhardt Meiske. Roy married Carolyn Meiske on April 12, 1959, where they were married for 29 years. He graduated from Taylor High School and achieved his higher education at Texas A&M in Kingsville. Roy was a man of many backgrounds. He was a business owner, farmer, rancher, the president of a manufacturing plant, fuel distributer to local farmers as well as many other talents. When he wasn't spending time being a supportive pillar within the community, he spent his time enjoying the outdoors by hunting, fishing or attending his grandkids's sporting events. Roy was an Army Veteran and served on the Taylor School Board. He obtained his architectural degree and one of his many accomplishments that stemmed from that was building the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Roy grew up with his brother and sister working the farm. He loved to work and was referenced as a "workhorse" by his loved ones. His determination was so much so, that he never really sat down unless the Dallas Cowboys were playing and if you were lucky, you could speak to him during halftime. He was the most genuine man and a man of his word. A handshake was his signature. It is well known that Roy had many trades and skills under his belt, but if you spoke to him it was obvious that his mind was turning and thinking of numbers for the next goal. Roy will be missed and in our hearts forever. Roy is survived by his brother, Clarence and Wife Janise Meiske as well as Patricia Henderson and Husband Bob; sons, Ricky Meiske and his wife, Kim of the Woodlands, Randy Meiske and his wife, Melissa of Taylor; daughter, Shelly Salvi of Boca Raton, Florida; six grandchildren, Denton with his wife Juliette Meiske of Shiner Texas, Dallas and Dawson Meiske of Taylor, as well as, Nicholas, Stephen and Michael Salvi of Boca Raton, Florida. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews. Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Eckhardt Meiske and the latest, Carolyn Meiske.
