Roger Dale Hamby, Jr.

November 1, 1972 — June 27, 2020

Roger “Skip” Dale Hamby Jr. was born on November 1, 1972 in Austin, Texas to Roger Dale Hamby Sr. and Virginia King Hamby. In the early morning hours of June 27 th , 2020, at the age of 47, Skip passed away at home. His untimely death was due to complications from diabetes and renal failure. Skip was a gentle soul with a huge heart and a great sense of humor. He had a chuckle that you just knew was going to be followed with raucous laughter. He loved his family, his animals, hunting, fishing, and anything camouflage. Heck, he even had camouflage crocks that he wore all the time. But mostly he loved his 5 year old daughter Ellie, she was the light of his life. Skip was a stay at home Dad, so wherever Skip went, Ellie went…those two were quite a pair. Skips love of animals led him to being a hobby farmer. He had pigs, chickens, dogs, and at one time he even had raccoons.

Skip is preceded in death by his parents Roger and Virginia Hamby.

Skip is survived by his four siblings; Ronda Dale Hamby Brown, Crystal Michelle Hamby Lucas, Amy Gale Hamby Grimmer, and Jamie Dale Hamby; his five children Dakota Gonzales, Summer Nicole Hamby, Cheyenne Sherre Hamby, Roger Dale Hamby III “Spud”, and Ellie Dawn Hamby; his long time girlfriend Misty Wilson and her two sons Nathan and Bradley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment will be at Haney Chapel in DelValle, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. Memorial contributions should be directed to the Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos Parker Blvd. NW, Taylor Texas 76574.
