Robert Allen Smith

On Sunday, November 27, 2022, Robert Allen Smith, loving husband of 46 years and father, passed away at the age of 69. Lovingly known by his family as “Smitty”, he was born on September 14, 1953, in Jamestown, New York, to Carolyn and Stanley Smith. Smitty joined the United States Army after graduating high school, serving six years both in Germany and Ft. Hood, Texas. In 1977, while stationed at Ft. Hood, he met his wife, Rebecca Smith, who he married in April of 1978, and remained married to for 46 years and had two children. After leaving the Army, he worked for Koch Pipelines, retiring from the corporation after more than 15 years. Smitty was a man who loved the Lord and had numerous talents. He loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener, fisherman, and carpenter. He enjoyed oil painting and loved painting landscape scenes. He was also a musician, playing the guitar and bass, and enjoyed playing and singing with his wife. Smitty was kindhearted and compassionate; he often tried to help those who were in need and was known to bring home the occasional stray animal. Smitty is preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn, and father, Stanley. He leaves behind his wife, Rebecca Smith; his two children, Wendy Castleman, and Jennifer Price and son-in-law Jesse Price; six grandchildren, Robert Castleman, Dakota Castleman, Faith Watkins, Breanna Pruitt, Sarah Price, and Jesse Price. Also left behind are brothers, Larry and Stanley Smith; sister, Kathy Bell; sister-in-law Jeanette Ford, brother-in-law Mike Ezell and his wife, Willie Ezell, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service for Smitty will be held at Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos G Parker Blvd NW, Taylor, TX 76574, on December 6th, 2022. Viewing will start at 11 am with the funeral services following at Noon. Graveside services will be held at 3 pm at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542.
