Raymundo Pascual Velasquez, age 94, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2023. Raymundo was born on January 5, 1929, in Leon GTO, Mexico to Jose Maria Vargas Molina and Gracia Madrigal Molina.
At the age of 19, Raymundo moved to Chicago, Illinois where he met and eventually married Maria Almazan on March 14, 1954. The couple spent the next 50 years in Chicago raising their 8 children while surrounded by extended family and friends. Raymundo enjoyed bowling, playing dominoes, dancing, music, gardening, and he was always ready for a good barbeque. After retiring from Teletype Communications, the couple and their grandchild, Miguel Gonzalez, relocated to Brownsville, Texas where they spent the next 20 years enjoying their retirement. After the passing of his wife in 2013, Raymundo left Brownsville, Texas and relocated to Buckeye, Arizona where he lived with Miguel and Miguel’s family; wife, Keri Gonzalez and children, Raymond and Benjamin, until his passing.
Raymundo is survived by his son, Orlando; daughters, Belinda, Delia, Adela, Lisa, Yolanda, and Sylvia; along with 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Raymundo was preceded in death by his wife, Maria, and son, Ricardo.
Please join us Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 5-8 pm for Raymundo’s wake at Providence Funeral Home and for a celebration of life mass Friday, July 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taylor, Texas. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery.
