Raymond Daniel Mokry, 77, of Taylor, left this world to join the Lord on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.
Raymond was born to Frank and Annie Mokry on February 23, 1945, at Swanson Hospital in Taylor, Texas. He was the second youngest child, raised on a farm in Granger, Texas, along with one sister and six brothers. He graduated from Granger High School in 1963 and married the love of his life, Nancy Malish, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on November 24, 1963. Nancy and Raymond were blessed with three children, James, Deana, and Janlyn. He cherished his family and worked hard to provide and take care of them. Raymond farmed and held several jobs in sales and manufacturing before starting his career as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed his work, which allowed him to connect with so many people throughout the community. His kind demeanor and friendly nature was recognized by everyone he met. He retired from the Taylor Post Office in 2014 after 48 years of dedicated service.
Raymond enjoyed dancing, taking care of the cars he loved, visiting casinos, and spending time at home with his family. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor, Texas, served as a lector for many years, and loved the Lord faithfully his entire life.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings: Frank, Gertrude (G Ann), Gilbert, Sr., Alfred, a baby sister that died at birth and close beloved relatives: brother-in-law Frank Krenek, Sr., sister-in-law Mary Ann Mokry, and nephew Robert Mokry.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy; children, James Mokry and wife Annette, Deana McLeroy and husband Warren, Janlyn Reed and husband Bill; four grandchildren, Hailey Heeke and husband Brian, McKenna Mokry, Quade Mokry, Caleb McLeroy; and two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Rylie Heeke. He is also survived by his brothers, Bernard and wife Shirley, Andrew Mokry, Alfonse Mokry and wife Barbara, sister-in-law Linda Wentrcek and husband Jimmy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Quade Mokry, Brian Heeke, Michael Wentrcek, Patrick Veselka, Nicholaus Mokry, Nathan Mokry, Andrew Mokry and Earnest Gardner, Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Warren McLeroy and Caleb McLeroy.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rooted in Christ, Growing in Faith Building Campaign at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
