Oscar Takeo Kuroda

October 30, 1965 — June 8, 2023

Oscar Takeo Kuroda Ortiz departed to be with His Lord and Savior on June 8, 2023, at the age of 57. Oscar Kuroda was born on October 30, 1965, in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, to Oscar Takeo Kuroda Sr. and Manuela “Nelly” Ortiz. Raised in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, alongside his brothers, Saúl, Arturo, David, and Juan, and his sister, Amada, Oscar learned the values of hard work and discipline from his enterprising father, the son of Japanese immigrants.

A brilliant student and gifted athlete, Oscar graduated in 1983 from CECYT Prepa in Los Mochis, where he forged lasting friendships, and he went on to attend the Fuerza Aérea del Heroico Colegio Militar to become a fighter pilot for the Mexican Air Force.

Oscar exited the military academy after an accident left him with a debilitating spinal injury, and he enrolled in El Instituto Tecnológico de Los Mochis, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and met the love of his life, Patricia Valdés Pastrana. Oscar earned his master’s degree in marketing from La Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Mexicali before venturing to Canoga Park, California, to follow Patricia. The couple reunited and married in Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 7, 1991, and started a family.

In August of 1997, Oscar and Patricia moved with their daughters to Georgetown, Texas, where they became members of El Buen Pastor Pentecostal Church and came to know Jesus under the guidance of their spiritual father, Pastor Jacinto Castillo Sr. Oscar later joined Calvary Christian Center, where he befriended Bishop Robert Sharp Sr. and served in the children’s ministry.

Oscar worked as an engraver of trophies and memorial plaques for much of his life, and later as a shipping and logistics manager. He was admired by his colleagues and friends for his ingenuity and commitment to excellence in all his work. In the last year of his life, Oscar founded Logos Logistics Ministries, a nonprofit organization designed to assist churches with resources and elderly ministers of limited means with housing support in their golden years.

Throughout his life, Oscar taught his loved ones to value forgiveness, reconciliation, and unconditional love. A faithful husband to his wife of 32 years, Patricia, and an instructive father to his daughters, Michelle and Virginia, Oscar was a man of profound faith and creativity, and his grandson Gian was a source of great pride and joy to him.

Oscar held a deep appreciation of cinema, and he was a fascinating storyteller with a tremendous sense of humor who never missed an opportunity to talk to others about God’s love. Now in the sacred presence of Our Heavenly Father, Oscar will be remembered with tenderness and everlasting love by his family and friends and by all who were blessed to share in his life.
