Nora Mae Haag

May 12, 1933 — July 1, 2022

Nora Mae “Nori” Haag (Lehmann) of Taylor passed away Friday, July 1, 2022.

Nori was born on May 12, 1933 on the family farm in Sandoval, Texas and was the last surviving child of Herman and Louise (Walsleben) Lehmann.

Nori graduated a year early from Thrall High School in 1950. She married Daniel Haag that same year, and together they had two children, Scott and Darrell Haag.

After raising her two boys she went to work as an Accounts Examiner with the Texas State Comptroller, working there for twenty-three years until her retirement in 1996. She was proud to have been personally interviewed and hired by the State Comptroller of Texas.

Nori was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Martha Society. Nori enjoyed gardening until her later years, was an avid crossword puzzle solver, never missed an Aggies or Cowboys game on TV, and loved to talk up a storm with her many good friends and family.

Nori lived through more than her share of tribulations. She laid to rest her two sons and her physical health was not matched by her sharp mind which never dulled in her 89 years. Despite life's trials, her faith in God and zest for life never wavered. She especially loved visits from her great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her sons, her dear friend Memory “M.C.” Long, along with siblings and spouses: Arthur (Nancy) Lehmann, Alfred (Leona) Lehmann, Lillian (Daniel) Dobias, and Esther (Buddy) Wernli.

Nori is survived by three grandchildren, Lance, Justin, and Brad Haag along with three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Javier, and Diego Haag, and numerous nieces and nephews. In her final years, Nori’s caregivers, Catharena Rydell and Sylvia Kaser, were indispensable and beloved.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on July 9, 2022 at Providence Funeral Home with the funeral service to take place at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Sandoval, Texas.
