Michael George Schneider passed away on June 21, 2024, in Round Rock, TX, at the age of 77. He was born April 1, 1947, in Waco, Texas to Edgar and Meta (Miller) Schneider.
Mike proudly served in the Marine Corps from 1967 to 1969, with 13 months in Vietnam in a rifle platoon, 3rd Battalion First Marine Division.
Mike was raised in Taylor, Texas. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, Temple Jr. College, and then graduated from the University of Texas in 1972 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He became a Certified Public Accountant and worked at R.E. James Gravel Company as the CFO for 48 years before retiring in 2022.
Staying active in the local community, Mike served on the Finance Council for the St. Mary’s School trust fund, and as the CCO on the Coupland ISD Board. He was an elected member of the Lower Brushy Creek Water Control Improvement District.
In 1971, Mike married Marianne Walker. They had four children, Mona, Meredith, Monica, and Matthew, and settled in Coupland, Texas in 1982, where they enjoyed the peace of living in the country. They were together for 52 years.
Mike and Marianne had seven grandchildren, all of whom they took on yearly trips to the beach where they enjoyed getting out in the surf and “jumping waves”. He took numerous hunting and fishing trips and he and Marianne traveled to Vegas and Shreveport to gamble with friends. He enjoyed woodworking and was often in his workshop making beautiful keepsake boxes, blanket chests, shadowboxes, and multiple other creative projects for his kids and grandkids.
Mike was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He always put his family first and participated in his kids’ sporting events, such as baseball and softball. He thought of his grandkids in everything he did and loved them dearly.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Meta Schneider. He is survived by his wife, Marianne (Walker); his children, Mona Baudek (Mark), Meredith Gleason (Brian), Monica Christy (Allen), and Matthew Schneider (Anna); grandchildren Blake, Gavin, Wade, Ethan, Jonah, Lily, and Danielle; siblings, Donna, David (Brenda), Joe (Nadine); and several nieces and nephews.
Mike was very well cared for by the staff at Trinity Care Center in Round Rock during the final stages of his life. He was able to keep his “Schneider wit” about him and make everyone laugh.
