Melvin C. Remmert, born on March 21st, 1944 in Taylor, Texas to Arnold and Ida (Heckman) Remmert, entered into rest on January 21st, 2023 at the age of 78.
Melvin graduated from Granger High School in 1962, moved to Austin, Texas and began his career with the City of Austin Electric Dept., now Austin Energy, as a Lineman. In 1995 he retired with a total of 33 years of service.
September 15th, 1963, he married Loretta Dykowski in Granger, Texas. September of 2023 they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
On February 21st, 1965 they had a son, Kevin Raye Remmert and on May 9th, 1967 they had a daughter Karen DeAnn Remmert
He is preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Ida (Heckman) Remmert and son Kevin Raye Remmert.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Loretta; Daughter, Karen Cathey; Daughter-in-law, Lannie Briscoe; Grand Daughter, Holly (Beau) Zoerner; Grand Daughter Stefani (Jeremy) Williams; Great-Grandkids, Zane and Kacen Zoerner, Isaiah Mendoza, Jasiah, Sariah and Aveyah Williams; Brother, Gaylon Remmert; Brother and Sisters-In-Law, Johnny and Irene Vrabel and Ginny Matula as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pall bearers are David Vrabel, John Parker, Dylan Newsom, Ricky Huber, Deral Milliken, Jimmie Vrabel, Joe Mendoza and Albert Vrana Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are Shane Newson, Gary Neal, Larry Neal, Patrick Davis and Beau Zoerner
