Mary Valadez, of Taylor, passed away at the age of 89, with her family by her side, on November 4, 2022.
Mary was born on July 12, 1933, to Lamberto and Ignacia Rosas in Merkel Texas. She was the oldest of three brothers and one sister. She married the love of her life, Rumaldo Valadez on August 1, 1950, in Big Spring, Texas. To this marriage came 7 children, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mary lived most of her adult life in Odessa, Tx where she worked as a teacher’s aide for Ector County ISD. Mary and Rumaldo opened their own business in 1975. It was very successful, but their hearts drew them to Round Rock TX in 1985. She then worked for Round Rock ISD until she retired. Mary loved sewing and cooking. She sewed her own curtains and clothes for her kids and grandkids. She could make the best food and most of the time she wasn’t following a recipe. She was just naturally a good cook. She opened her own restaurant for a short period of time. She loved music and loved to dance. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren; her face would light up every time she saw one of her grandchildren walk through the door. She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed praying the daily Rosary.
