Mary Ann Mokry, 77, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020 at home in Taylor surrounded by her family and friends in prayer.
She was born on July 28, 1943 in Taylor, to Joe and Agnes Juranek. She grew up on a farm with six brothers and one sister and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School from 1 st grade through 12 th , graduating in 1962. During her high school years she loved to attend local dances and it was at one of these dances that she met and fell in love with her husband, Andrew.
Andrew Mokry proposed to Mary Ann on Christmas Eve 1962 and the two were married on June 23, 1963. They celebrated 57 years of married devotion and had four children: Robert, Lynn, Vanessa, and Andrea. Mary Ann and Andrew raised their family on big Sunday dinners, Catholic teachings, and Czech music.
Mary Ann’s life’s work was caring for children. She ran a daycare in her home for 43 years until retiring in 2011, but her greatest joy in life came from being the most wonderful Grandma to Cassiddy, Chelsea, Dusty, Natalie, Andrew, Cody, Nicholas, and Leo. And now even Great-Grandma too.
A deeply religious woman, Mary Ann was an involved parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church her whole life and spent her retirement years taking part in the Divine Mercy Cenacle and by volunteering to pray the Divine Mercy Rosary at SPJST Assisted Living weekly.
She was always gentle, sincere, and selfless; a very lovely lady.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, four of her brothers, and her beloved son, Robert.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Andrew Mokry, along with her daughters Lynn Mokry Stefek, Vanessa Mokry, and Andrea Wilbert (husband Rob); her daughter-in-law Susie Mokry; her grandchildren Cassiddy Stefek Guerra (husband Sebastian), Dusty Stefek, Chelsea Stefek, Natalie Mokry, Andrew Mokry, Cody Ryan, Nicholas Wilbert, and Leo Wilbert; and her great-granddaughters Aaliyah Garcia, Violet Guerra, and Lily Guerra.
Thank you to the nurses, aides, and the rest of the staff from Compassus who took thoughtful care of her during her months in home hospice.
