Mary Baldwin, 98, Taylor Banker and Homemaker, died Saturday, May 25, 2019.
Born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on June 9, 1920, she was the daughter of J. O. and
Ollie Wilson. She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School. She was married to
Ross Baldwin, former Taylor High School Head Football Coach and Principal for 60
years.
Mary and Ross were active in First Baptist Church, Taylor since 1950. She taught in
Children’s Sunday School for many years and served as Church Librarian. One of her
great joys in life was being a part of the lady’s prayer groups over all those years.
Mary was a Vice-President and head of the Bookkeeping Department of First Taylor
National Bank for 32 years. She was a faithful employee and loved the ladies and
gentlemen she worked alongside in those years.
She became a believer in Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was a very
gentle spirited lady with a deep passion for Her Lord and life. She was a
willing witness of His grace both in deeds and her words. Her prayers for people
were greatly sought and appreciated.
If you knew her, no words are necessary. If you did not know her, no words are adequate.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ross Baldwin, her parents and two sisters, Hazel
Wilson and Ruby Nell Reed. She is survived by her sister, Mildred Howard; daughter,
Linda Matysek and husband John; son, Ken Baldwin and wife, Terry.
Grandchildren: Dayna Bolger and husband Tim, Calesse Carter and husband Scott,
Charlie Baldwin and wife Joy, Katie James and husband Marcus, and Brad Baldwin;
Great grandchildren: Cole Carter, Kendall Carter, Carli Bolger, Tim Bolger, Theodore James
and Cooper James.
