Marvin F. Brinkmeyer

Marvin Fritz Brinkmeyer, a lifetime resident of the Taylor area, passed away peacefully at an assisted living facility on Friday, January 31, 2020.

Marvin was born at home near Thrall, Texas on March 22, 1927. He graduated from Coupland Texas High School in 1945, and soon after joined the Navy. After serving his tour in Hawaii, he returned to Taylor, where he met the love of his life, Kathleen Barron. They were married on April 12, 1949. True love lasted over 61 years, when Kathleen passed away in 2011.

Marvin worked for the City of Taylor Water Department his last 15 years or more before retiring in 1992. He met and cultivated many lifelong friends while with the City. Marvin and Kathleen lived life to the fullest. They would rendezvous with a group of Marvin’s Navy buddies and their families as often as possible. These friendships endured to this day. They would meet in Branson, Mo; Boerne, Texas; Oil City, La; and other locations, spending quality R and R time together.

Marvin was also a very active member of the local VFW chapter for many years.Marvin’s hobbies included smoking killer brisket, surf fishing at Surfside, which he dearly loved, and bringing old furniture back to life for anyone in need of a furniture makeover. He also loved spending time with the grandkids, and was lovingly known as Paw.

Marvin is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen, his mother and father, Louise Schroeder and Fritz Brinkmeyer, and his brother Jimmy Brinkmeyer.

Marvin is survived by 3 sisters Gladys West of Austin, Shirley Evans of Taylor, Jennifer and husband Dan Rosas of Round Rock; his sister-in-law Yvonne Blackwell; 2 daughters, Marsha and husband Eddy Pundsack and Rhonda Brinkmeyer, both of Taylor; son David and wife Doretha Brinkmeyer of Palacios; 6 grandchildren, Liz and husband Jim Jero of New Braunfels; Melissa and husband Bryon Burson of Hutto; Aaron and wife Jacqueline Pundsack of Round Rock; Sammy Russell; Stephen and wife Symon Russell; Scott Russell; 4 great-grandchildren, Ron Charles Meaker, Juliet and Madelyn Pundsack, Skylar Russell; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Providence Funeral Home.

Special thanks to the caring team at Pflugerville Nursing and Rehab Center, and Halycon Hospice. Marvin leaves us with many happy memories to share and remember.
