Martha Joyce Kovar

Martha Joyce Kovar went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 22, 2024, at the age of 72 in Thorndale, TX.  Martha was born on February 7, 1951, in Houston, TX to Willard and Ophelia Rodgers. Martha was raised in Houston and moved to Thorndale in 1975 where she and her husband, Johnny Kovar, raised their family.  Martha was a mom to not only her children but to all of the children that knew her.  She was a caregiver to many young and old loved ones through the years. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Retreat Methodist Church.  As she grew older, and her children had families, she was elevated to G-Mama.  We never knew the power and love that this name would bring.  Whether you knew her as Martha, Marcie, Mom, Momma, Aunt Martha, G-Mama, or G-Martha you knew that she loved you unconditionally and was not afraid to show it.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Ophelia Rodgers; stepdad, B.E. Matthews; sister-in-law, Barbara Rodgers; and nephew, Brian Rodgers.

Martha is survived by her children, Amy Kloesel and Stephen of Spring; sons, John Kovar and Kelly of Thorndale; and Jason Kovar and Wendy of Thorndale; her brothers, Wayne Rodgers and wife Judy, and Bobby Rodgers; grandchildren, Adam Waddell, Emily and Brady Kloesel, Kelsey, Kaden, and Kennedy Kovar; great-granddaughter, Celia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Providence Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Retreat Cemetery in Thorndale.
