Marianne Gordy

Marianne Gordy, 69, passed away peacefully at home on March 15, 2025, in Thorndale, Texas. Born on June 8, 1955, in Austin, Texas, she lived a life dedicated to education and the well-being of others.

Marianne earned her bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Texas and spent 45 years as a special education teacher. Her dedication to her students was unwavering, and she made a lasting impact on the lives of many through her compassion, patience, and commitment to their growth and success.

Outside of her professional life, Marianne cherished the beauty of nature, particularly in flower gardening and the calming presence of water. She loved spending time at the beach and had a deep connection with the outdoors. Her creativity also shone through in her love for creating mosaics and refurbishing antiques, breathing new life into old treasures. Marianne was a devoted animal lover and cherished the time spent with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Micheal Gordy; her sons, Andy Gordy and his wife Sarah, and Jacob Gordy; her sisters, Gail Casarez and her husband Al, and Carol Rankin and her husband Clifford. Marianne also leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest "Glen" and Mary Louise Vorwerk, and her brother, Glen Vorwerk.

A service to honor Marianne’s life will be held on March 22, 2025, at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM.
