Maria G. Briones

Maria G Briones died peacefully at her home on July 29, 2023, surrounded by her family.  Maria was born in Oakville, Texas, on the 8th of August 1939, to Calistra Sanchez and Jesus Garcia.

Maria was blessed with having four children – all girls! They were Martha, Soyla, Eloisa, and Gloria. Because she was a single mom at the early age of 22, she turned to the only One who could supply all her needs – Jesus. She shared the gospel story with her daughters and left a shining example of putting their trust in Him.

Maria was a strong and gracious woman who loved the Lord. Her greatest legacy to her family is her faith in God. She was always actively involved in the churches she attended in Rochester, McKinney, Frisco, Beeville, and Taylor, Texas. Her physical struggles in these last few years kept her from being as actively involved, however, her faith never wavered.

Her greatest joy was singing! There was always a song on her lips and praises to the Lord. Her love of singing inspired her children and grandchildren to express their joy through lifting their voice in song. She was a woman of great faith. She was loving, kind, generous and had a sense of humor which always brought laughter and joy to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 24 years, Felipe Briones; father, Jesus Garcia; sister, Dionicia G. Tristan; mother, Calistra Sanchez; brother, Samuel Martinez; sister, Ofelia Ramirez, brother, Mack Magana; and daughters, Soyla Gonzales and Eloisa Dominguez.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Daniel (Soila) Magana of Frisco, Texas; daughters, Martha (Daniel) Alderete and Gloria Morelos of Rochester, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Those left to continue her legacy are 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
