Margaret Ann James

August 26, 1946 — August 3, 2019

Margaret Ann Queen James was born August 26, 1946 in Taylor, Texas to Cecil Queen, Sr. and Beulah Bell Dilworth Queen. She was raised in a happy and loving household along with siblings, Cecil Jr., Ruby, Donald, and sister /brother/ double first cousins, the late Laverne and Kenneth Queen until, they moved away with their father.

Margaret attended Blackshear O.L. Price.  Although, she never attended college, she along with her close friends, Linda Seabrooks and Rose Davis could be found somewhere thumbing through a medical book always trying to self-diagnose the situation at hand.  When, she was younger she wanted to be a school teacher, but she said often that she believed she was put on this earth to be a caregiver.  She took care of her aunt, father, late husband and of course her four daughters.

Margaret loved to cook and cooking was her way of showing love to her family and friends.  She would always say, “we may not have much, but I will feed you” and it was very evident to those who loved her that her meals were prepared with love.  Her recipes were never a family secret because, she did not mind sharing.  She was also an avid baker, and it was not uncommon for you to walk in and see a freshly baked cake on the table or deep freezer.  Although life for Margaret was not easy, she had a way of making it look easy.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Herman James, mother, father, eldest brother, Cecil Queen Jr., and sister, Ruby Miles.  Survivors include one brother, Donald Ray Queen (D.Q) of Taylor; her beloved daughters, Dion Bradford of Richmond, VA; Michelle Haynes of Round Rock, TX; Tanisha Dunn (Tommy) of Stony Creek, VA; Carla Ottati (David) of Round Rock, TX and daughter-in-love, Lana James of Irving, TX. She was a loving grandmother affectionately known as “MawMaw” to Taniqua Dunn; Travian James; Trevin Dunn (Alejandra); Kierra and Makaila Haynes; Victor A. James II and Phillip James, Jr.  And a host of relatives and friends.
