Lynette Johnson

Lynette Waldine Johnson, 91, of Manor, Texas passed away at 9:25pm Sunday August 30, 2020. Lynette was born in Elgin, Texas on April 12, 1929. She was the youngest of four daughters born to Leonard Walter Johnson and Francis Antonia Johnson (Maresh).

In 1950, Lynette married Carlos Walter Johnson, the love of her life in Taylor, Texas. She graduated from Taylor High School in 1947. As a teenager, Lynette worked at Montgomery Ward and the Rita Theater, both in Taylor. She also worked in her husband’s business keeping the books after marriage. As a child and young girl, she was an avid fisher woman and huntress. These Continued into her marriage and was her greatest joy! She was an exceptional cook and canner, making dill pickles and peach jelly on a yearly basis, until she could no longer lift the heavy pots used in canning.

Lynette was preceded in death by her parents and her three older sisters, Blanche, Mary Ethyl and Dorene.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Carlos Walter Johnson, and her daughter; Sherry Elaine Johnson and son; Carlos Gregory Johnson. She has one granddaughter Corliss Nichole Hudgins and two great-granddaughters Sherry Isabella Dillard and Ceciliana Nichole Dillard.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Carter, J.C. Carter, Dwaine Carter, Joe Dan Johnson, Carlos Don Johnson, and Ashaley Bland.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening September 2, 2020 from 6-8pm at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas. Funeral services are at 10:00am on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at the funeral home followed by interment at Taylor City Cemetery.
