Lydia Campos Castro, 82, of Bartlett passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Lydia was born on August 3, 1941 in Cadereyta, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Felix and Maria Jesusita Campos. On May 24, 1962 she married the love of her life, Fortunato Castro, and remained married to him until his death in 2008.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Adolfo, Daniel, Samuel, David, Elias and sisters Juanita and Jesusita.
Lydia was a loving mother to Mary Susan Pierce (Samuel), Elizabeth Ann Bell (Buddy) and Iris Castro, all of Bartlett. She was the most proud and loving Memaw to 9 grandchildren, Erin Pierce, Kaci Moore, Amber Velasquez, Brandon Bell, Blake Bell, Allen Castro, Marisa Downey, London Downey, and Lennox Downey and Mana to 8 great- grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings Margarita Solis, Celia Lopez and Joe Campos.
She never met a stranger she didn’t turn into a friend. You’d often find her making lists of goodies to give to the people working in her community, and donating to anyone who was in need. She enjoyed spending her free time gardening and planting flowers. Those who knew her, knew her witty sense of humor, and how she loved to make people laugh. No matter the adversities she faced, her funny loving personality remained intact.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 at Bartlett City Cemetery. Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas is in charge of services.
