Paul R. Lopez, Sr.

Paul Lopez Sr., age 78, of Taylor, passed away April 22, 2018, at Falcon Ridge Rehabilitation surrounded by his family.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Lorenzo Lopez Sr., his mother, Feliciana Lopez, and sisters, Melinda Castro, Gloria Moreno and Maria Guadalupe Vera.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucia Lopez, sons, Paul Lopez Jr., and James Lopez, daughter-in-law, Lisa Gurka Lopez, daughter, Dolores Garza and son-in-law, Rey Garza Sr., brothers, Lorenzo Lopez Jr., and Richard Lopez and sister-in-law, Josie Lopez, and sisters, Mary Gamez, Susie Lucio, and Olga Gonzales, and brother-in-law, Ray Gonzales.  Grandchildren, Rey Garza Jr., Briana Lopez and husband Ace Gonzales, Jessi Lopez, Zachary Lopez, Avery Lopez, and great granddaughter, Ava Lyn Gonzales.

Paul was born in Thrall, Texas on June 30, 1939 to parents who taught him a strong work ethic as a young man.  He delivered milk for Superior Dairy, was employed as a truck driver for William Cameron Wholesales and was promoted to an office position after taking courses at Durham Business College.  He worked part-time at Taylor Floral Co. learning floral arrangements.  He worked for Cory Coffee Company before starting his own construction business, Paul’s Workshop in the 1990’s.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Providence Funeral Home with Rosary starting at 7:00 P.M..  Funeral Mass of Christian Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.
