Lrene Marie Bernhardt

On October 2, 2017, Lrene Marie Bernhardt, 73, was taken into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ in Round Rock, TX.

She was born February 25, 1944 in Taylor, TX, the daughter of Liston Poston and Irene Pfeil Poston.  She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Taylor High School in 1962.  Lrene married the love of her life Roy L. Bernhardt on August 27, 1967 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor, and they were married 48 wonderful years.  Lrene graduated with a BS in Education from the University of Texas at Austin in 1965.  She began teaching at the age of 21, and taught at Thrall ISD her entire 42 year career.  She taught Junior High English, published the Tiger yearbook, was Senior class sponsor for many years, and served as the district Librarian her last few years before retiring in 2007.

She enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas each summer with her family.  Lrene was an avid reader and enjoyed poetry, American and English literature, and a good mystery book.  She was a kind, generous, loving, encouraging, creative, loyal, and funny person.  These are the qualities that made her not only an excellent teacher but also an excellent mother.

Lrene is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa Marie Manning and son-in-law Jon Manning; cousins Geneva Ambrose, Richard Pfeil; three sisters-in-law and their families, Patricia Williams and husband Alan, Linda Sladek and husband Billy, Nancy Scruggs and husband Glen.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy L. Bernhardt, and her parents, Liston and Irene Poston.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Providence Funeral Home.  With rosary recited at 7:00 P.M.

Celebration of Mass will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 6, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor.  Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.
