Louren Karkoska

June 25, 1935 — July 25, 2021

Louren Karkoska, 86 of Taylor, danced into heaven to join her beloved husband Ted and favorite four-legged child Clara, on Sunday July 25, 2021.

Louren was born on June 25, 1935, in Jarrell Texas to Joe and Clara Klepac.  She grew up with an older brother, Frank Klepac (deceased) and younger sister, Bernice Bullock.  She graduated from Jarrell High School and married Ted Karkoska of Granger, Texas on February 16, 1953.  To this marriage came three children, Harold Karkoska, Catherine Basile, and Cynthia Karkoska.

In her early years of marriage she worked as a waiter at the Taylor Food Fair Café until landing her dream job for Safeway for many years in the meat processing department. Later in her life she supervised the Taylor ISD cafeteria department ensuring Taylor students had the best tasting meals in Williamson County. She also went on to co-own Neighborhood Café family business with her daughter Cynthia Karkoska which included her mother and daughter-in-law helping out. In her final years, her husband and her invested in realestate which she managed with her husband and children.

Louren is survived by her son Harold (Trish) Karkoska, two daughters, Catherine Basile, Cynthia Karkoska (Malinda) and one granddaughter Candice Karkoska.

Ted and Louren spent many days in their RV camping and fishing with family and friends. After Ted's passing Louren spent her days and nights enjoying her life with her dear friends. She loved to play casino games, go dancing at the various Texas Dance halls, listening to live music & Elvis, doing puzzles, being outside doing her yard work, growing her own jalapeno peppers, getting driven around in one of her many red cars and spending time with her "Thursday Night Girls Night Out" group.  She made fond memories with her dearest friends; Sharon Beran, Charlie Halm, Greg Beran, Larry Beran, Ila Mae Jansky (deceased), Loretta Buzan (deceased), Becky Custard, Dorthy Newman, Helen Kaatz (deceased) and too many more to list. In the last couple of years of her life she spent time with her granddaughter Candice and her neighbor Greg putting puzzles together, playing dominos, shopping, taking overnight trips and eating out.
