Lillian Monica Frerichs , age 93, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2020.
The youngest of 12 children to Czech immigrants, Vaclav and Mary Martinka, Lillian was born in Corn Hill, Texas where she attended Holy Trinity Catholic School and then met her husband Wilbert before moving to the Taylor area for the rest of her life.
Lillian lived on a farm and ranch all of her 93 years; she loved gardening and keeping livestock. Many hours were spent tending the plants during the growing season and then making fruit preserves and pickles as the garden ripened as well as cultivating pretty flowers. Lillian was a wonderful cook, often using the freshest ingredients from her own garden, and baked the best “ Dobre Jidlo ” and kolaches for an afternoon “ svacina .” Throughout her life, she baked dozens of kolaches every Saturday when cooking for her family and friends. She also baked the very best chiffon cakes from scratch - lemon and strawberry were the best.
Lillian was a master seamstress, when growing up, Lillian made her own dress patterns and sewed many outfits in her career, from wedding dresses and formal dresses to outfits for everyday. Lillian managed a clothing store for a number of years in Taylor, Texas and was a trusted sewing consultant. Many of her grandchildren's play clothes and favorite pajamas were sewn by Lillian over the years. She also hand stitched many dozens of quilts over the years - always stitching to give to family and friends.
The most notable attribute about Lillian, is that she generously put the needs of others before herself. These memories will be lovingly cherished by her family and many friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert and daughter Estelle Frerichs as well as her eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son Michael Frerichs; her son Arthur and wife Colleen Frerichs and their children: granddaughter Maureen and husband Jason Given, granddaughter Melissa and husband Michael Horan, grandson Matthew and wife Katelyn Frerichs as well as her two great-granddaughters Caroline and Olivia.
Due to Covid, funeral services will be held privately with the family.
