Letha J. Cast

Death is not the end; it is only the beginning. On August 20, 2022, Letha Jo (Perrin) Cast gained her angel wings and began her forever life in the presence of her gracious and merciful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Letha never aged as she has been 29 years of age ever since we can remember.

Joseph Francis and Mildred Letha (English) Perrin were blessed with her borning cry on March 13, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas. Letha was the first of eight children that would adorn the rooms of their loving Christian home.

As the family moved, Letha attended schools in San Antonio, and Taylor, eventually graduating from Hutto High School. She began her career at a young age working for Prewitt Hardware in Taylor. Later she attended business school and began her life-long career as a secretary working for J.R. Reed Music Company, Alcoa, and TCLEOSE. She still remembered how to write shorthand. In the 1960’s she opened her own ceramic shop in Austin where she provided materials, supplies and hands-on instructions. She dabbled in Amway and enjoyed her many years as a Mary Kay consultant.

On July 7, 1972, she married her sweetheart, Alton “Leroy” Cast. They recently were blessed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Letha had a passionate love for her family, and her many friends always focusing on them and not herself. Her mission in life was to serve others and she fulfilled her assignment even up to the end.

Letha loved anything pink, especially roses. She could play the piano beautifully, though she never had a lesson. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, vacationing, and camping with her husband and grandchildren. She could seldom be seen without her big plastic convenience store mug full of Diet Coke. We always believed it was glued to her hand, and since we cannot find it, we are pretty sure she took it with her. She enjoyed collecting Angels, and now dwells among them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers-in-law Jimmy Melton and Dudley Marx.

She leaves behind her adored and devoted husband, Leroy; daughter, Denise Melde (Rickey) of Thorndale; son, Delan Decker of Thorndale; chosen family Kevin and Monica Barchenger; sisters, Margaret Preuss (Clifford) of Taylor, Eileen Melton of Hutto, Ethel Melton of Hutto, Elma Adams (David) of Georgetown, Debbie Marx of Thorndale, Wanda Merz (Paul) of Elgin; brother, Keith Perrin (Carolyn) of Temple; loved and adored grandchildren, Eric Melde (Daiga) of Thorndale, Jared Melde of Thorndale, Caleb Melde and fiancé, Courtney Glenn, of Granbury/Temple respectively, Emma Monahan (Isaiah) of San Diego, CA, Tyler Barchenger (Kylie Loving) of Cedar Park, Wyatt Barchenger of Hutto, and Cody Barchenger of Taylor; precious great-grandchildren, Harper Melde, Milam Melde, Maddox Melde, Kenley Melde, Phoebe Monahan and Brooks Barchenger; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews, dear friends, and “adopted” children and grandchildren.

Serving as Pall Bearers, grandsons, Eric, Jared and Caleb Melde, Tyler, Wyatt, and Cody Barchenger; and nephews, Mark Adams and Bradley Perrin.

A Mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take.

A visitation is to be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, August 26, 2022 at Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos Parker Blvd. NW, Taylor.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Providence Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Hutto City Cemetery.
