Leroy Albert Reichenbach

November 23, 1936 — March 15, 2019

Leroy Albert Reichenbach

Leroy was born in Hoxie, Texas, on November 23, 1936, to Albert Reichenbach and Adele Erdmann Reichenbach.  On February 2, 1964, he married Anita Riethmayer.  Though they suffered greatly with the tragic loss of their 17-year-old daughter Regina and illness of their daughter Renita, they loved and supported each other until Anita’s death on July 22, 1997.

Leroy grew up on a farm in Hoxie and attended the school at Hoxie until he reached high school.  At that point he transferred to Thrall and was a part of the Thrall Tiger graduating class of 1955.  After graduation from high school Leroy worked at the Reichenbach Red and White Grocery Store, owned by his brother Wilbert.  He was an active member of the Thunderbolts Hot Rod Club. He would continue to follow his passion for cars by opening his own business, R & T Automotive in 1960 where he and his wife Anita worked alongside each other.

Leroy was a devoted member of the Taylor Brethren Church where he served numerous terms as Chairman of the Board of Elders and as Sunday School Treasurer for many years.  He was known as the guy who gets things done, going above and beyond, and never afraid to do it himself without any recognition needed.  He cherished the friendship and bonds that were formed while working alongside the men and women of this church.

Leroy also loved baseball.  When he wasn’t watching the Yankees, he loved watching his nephews play ball.  Leroy was also a beloved coach to many.  He coached numerous Little League Boys baseball teams and Little League girls’ softball teams, leading many of the teams to win their league.

Leroy was known not only for being a hard worker, but also for how much pride he took in his work.  He did it right or he didn’t do it at all.  Therefore, it was no coincidence that when you needed engine work done, Leroy was your guy.  His eye for detail and no compromise attitude regarding precision pretty much made him a legend in Central Texas when it came to engine rebuilding.

The true loves of his life came to him in his later years.  His grandson Brayden and granddaughter Rylee were the center of his universe.  They brought so much love to him after all he had lost.  I don’t know if they will ever understand how much they changed his life just by loving him.

Among those who mourn him are his daughter, Monee Reichenbach Michna and her husband Buddy, his grandchildren, Brayden and Rylee Michna, his brother-in-law Herbert Riethmayer, Jr and his wife Betty, sister-in-law Velma Reichenbach, extended family members, Anna and Donald Kover, Gene and Patsy Zrubek, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Riethmayer Reichenbach, two daughters, Regina and Renita Reichenbach, his mother and father, Adele Erdmanm Reichenbach and Albert Reichenbach, his brother, Wilbert Reichenbach and his sister, Clara Reichenbach Widmer.

Pallbearers will be Howard Widmer, Roy Reichenbach, Kelly Reichenbach, Mickey Reichenbach, Aaron Riethmayer and Terry Zrubek.  Honorary pallbearers are SR Moss, Olin Tiemann, Dan Kahanek, Tregg Towery, Gene Roepke, Don Reichenbach, Darvin Widmer and Jimmy Porkorny.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Regina Reichenbach Scholarship Fund, Taylor ISD Central Office, 3101 N. Main St, Taylor, Texas 76574 or to the Taylor Brethren Church, P. O. Box 351, Taylor, Texas 76574

A special appreciation is extended to his lifelong friends SR Moss and Olin Tiemann for the love and friendship they gave him, to Hope Kelso and the staff at Knights Assisted Living in Pflugerville for always taking such good care of him and to the many family and friends for their support and prayers.
