Leroy Bland
February 27, 1929 – November 3, 2017
Leroy Bland was born to Sellia Jackson and Jessie D. Bland in Taylor, TX on February 27, 1928. He attended the US Army in 1940 until 1945. He later worked 10 years at the Taylor Cotton Gin then later worked 30 years as a supervisor at Lubbock Plains Coop Oil Mill where he later retired in 1994. After his retirement he loved to go fishing and loved working on his farm raising hogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sellia and Jessie Bland, his sister Sallie Ann Moore, and his beautiful wife of 50 years Elnora Bland.
He leaves to cherish his memories his brother Willie D. Bland and wife Addie of Houston, TX, his granddaughter Antoinette Johnson and husband Fredrick of Taylor, TX, his daughter Ethel Jo Bell of Lubbock, TX, two sons Johnny Ray Hopes of Oklahoma and Lester Griffin of Lubbock, TX, and a host of grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces of nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Celebration of life service will be on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
