Lauren Ann Decory

January 23, 1946 — December 6, 2023

Lauren Ann DeCory, of Taylor, Texas, passed away on December 6, 2023.  She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.  She was married to her best friend, Franklin J. DeCory for 59 great years.

Lauren was born on January 23, 1946 to Cecelia and Roy Longie in Devils Lake, North Dakota.

She retired from the Harris County Library system in 2000.  After she retired, Lauren and Franklin decided to move out of Houston and move to a smaller town.  They looked around Texas, and she liked Taylor the best, so they bought a home and moved in 2007.

Lauren’s favorite song was “She and I” by Alabama. She loved cooking all types of food.  She enjoyed traveling. When the kids were young, the family would load up in the van and go camping.  After the kids were grown, Lauren and Franklin visited 34 states.  She always liked to stay at the casinos along the way, but she would tell Franklin to stay in their room because he cost too much money when he played.  Lauren was the lucky one.  When her eyesight started to fade and she could no longer drive to church or open highways, they stopped taking road trips.  She loved to drive and could have been an 18-wheeler driver.

Lauren is survived by her loving husband, Franklin Decory; daughter, Michael Ann; son, David Bryan, and his friend, Tracy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecilia and Roy Longie, of Devils Lake, ND; brothers, Raymond Longie, Ronnie Longie, and Timmy Trottier; and stepfather, Bill Trottier.

No services will be held.  In the future, David will mix Lauren and Franklin’s ashes together and spread them in the woods so “She and I” can fertilize trees and give birds and animals a place to live.
