Laura Elizabeth Butler

June 17, 1960 — November 18, 2017

Laura Elizabeth Butler passed away peacefully at home in Georgetown on 18 November 2017 at the age of 57.  Born into an Army family at Ft Hood, TX, she lived all around the world, first as an Army Brat and then as an Army spouse, and she settled in Georgetown, TX in 2012.

Laura Elizabeth Shrader was born on 17 JUNE 1960 to parents Lynn and Joan Welch Shrader.  She graduated from Texas A&M University in 1988 with a BS in Anthropology and earned a Paralegal Certificate from Emory University in 2009. She volunteered for numerous organizations including the American Red Cross where she earned the Clara Barton Award for exemplary volunteer service over many years. She was a member of Daughters of the Republic of Texas, where she was historian, Daughters of the American Revolution, and First Presbyterian Church Georgetown.

She is survived by her husband, Ben Butler, mother Joan Shrader, son Brian (Cassie) Butler, brothers Mark and Scott (Janet) Shrader, grandson Chad Butler, uncles John and Jim Welch, and cousins John (Denise) Welch, Jeff (Susan) Welch, and Brian (Alice Ann) Welch.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., 25 November 2017 at First Presbyterian Church of Georgetown, TX.  In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the National MS Society or charity of their choice.
