Larry Darnell Williams Sr., long time son of Rockdale, and resident of Round Rock, TX departed this earthly plain on Thursday May 12, 2022. He was 72 years of age.
Larry was born on March 20, 1950, to Grace Williams. He was later adopted by Charlie Denmon after his 13th birthday. He grew up with his step-brothers and step-sister. Larry attended Aycock School for his elementary and primary education. Then, Rockdale High for his secondary education from which he graduated with honors in 1968. Larry started singing at a young age. As he aged, his voice matured to the octave of tenner. He won numerous UIL awards and even performed at his high school graduation. Larry and Carol dated in high school and eventually married in August 1970. They settled in Rockdale and raised two sons. During his employment with Alcoa, Larry received post secondary education through Texas State Technical College, earning an associates of science degree. He also enrolled into the apprenticeship program through Alcoa, and gained certification as an industrial electrician. Larry held that position with Alcoa for 38 years until he retired in 2007.
Larry continued to sing in church and was the praise team leader at New Jerusalem Interdenominational Church before moving to Round Rock, TX in 1990. Larry's hobbies included family gatherings and cooking.
Larry is preceded in death by his mother Grace, his adopted father Charlie Denmon. His sibling (Ernest R. Williams Jr. & Byron E. Williams). Larry leaves behind a wife (Carol Ann Williams), two sons (Larry Jr. and Charles), four grandchildren (Nathasha, Darnell, Kenji, Corey), three great-grandchildren, and sister (Sylvia M. Marrison)
Services will be held at New Jerusalem Interdenominational Church, 103 Mulberry St. Rockdale,TX 76567 on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 11:00 am. Internment will be at the Oak Lawn Cemetery immediately following the services. Repast will follow at New Jerusalem Interdenominational Church Cafeteria. In lieu of donations of flowers or food to the family, memorial contributions can be made to New Jerusalem Interdenominational Church.
