Larry Wade Flippin Jr.

June 1, 1976 — June 29, 2024

Larry Wade Flippin, Jr., 48, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Hospice Austin’s Christopher House, after bravely battling cancer. He left this earth and entered heaven with an unforgettable smile.

Jr. was born on June 1, 1976, in Taylor, Texas, to Larry Wade Flippin, Sr. and Shirley Marie (Urbanek) Flippin. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1994.

From early on, Jr. was incredibly smart. He liked working with his hands and could fix just about anything. Jr. worked as an electrician and as an automotive transmission specialist. He was skilled at building transmissions and operated his own business for some time.

Jr. loved nature. He especially enjoyed caring for animals, fishing, gardening, and living in the woods.

Many people will remember Jr.’s big heart and sweet spirit. Kindness could be seen in his beautiful eyes and in the way he treated others. He had a special bond with his mother and cared for her with a deep, abiding love.

Jr. also loved children. His face always lit up around his nephews, nieces, and great-nephew. He instantly connected with his fiancé’s children and greatly impacted their lives.

The greatest love Jr. experienced and then emulated came from his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jr. started praying to God when he was a child. His faith and personal relationship with Jesus grew stronger over time, especially through the challenges he faced. He had a passion for telling others about God.

Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Larry Wade Flippin, Sr., and his grandparents, Allen and Mary Ann Urbanek, Claude and Lee Ellen Flippin, and Mary and Monroe Markert. He is survived by his mother, Shirley; sisters, Sheryl (Paul, Sr.) Smith and Michelle (Rick) Hernandez; brother, James (Cody) Flippin; nieces, Ashley (Carlos) Ventura, Alison Smith, and April Hernandez; nephews, Paul Smith, Jr., Ryan Smith, Joshua Hernandez, and Brandon Hernandez; great-nephew, Eli Ventura; and one great-niece on the way. Jr. also leaves behind his fiancé, Mary Daniel, and her children, Camden Daniel, Corey Daniel, Chandler Daniel, Ella Edwards, and Jimmy Clancy.

The visitation and funeral will be held at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor on Saturday, July 6, 2024. The visitation will last from 1 to 2 p.m., and the funeral will start at 2 p.m. A burial will follow at Machu Cemetery in Granger.
