Kavan Gene Simcik was born on May 24th, 1968, in Taylor, Tx to Bill and Gracie (Hyzak) Simcik. He and his younger sister, June, were raised in the Taylor community. He was rooted here and remained best friends with his childhood buddies.
Kavan graduated from Taylor High School in 1986 and attended Texas State Technical Institute in preparation for his HVAC career. While in college he made many lifelong friends, 2 of which became his brother in laws.
In January of 1998 He married “His Angel”, Michele Newton Simcik. They continued life in Taylor eventually adding two boys to their family Aaron and Jackson.
Kavan’s career path started with HVAC service work in the Austin Area. When his family grew and family demands increased, he transitioned to Round Rock ISD working in the HVAC service department and energy management for close to 15 years.
Kavan had a strong work ethic that bled over to his hobbies. Work was play. He was the hunter gatherer and enjoyed all things outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, building, tinkering, home and farm maintenance. One of his all-time favorite chores was “tractor therapy” … raking hay. When he was cooped up inside, he loved cooking, canning, and recently learned leather craft.
Everybody that knew Kavan saw his rough cowboy exterior, but no doubt he loved Jesus! He began his personal walk with Jesus at the age of 8 and his relationship grew through his lifetime. Early in the morning of July 5th, 2024, Kavan woke up in heaven and saw his savior face to face.
For almost 2 years Kavan struggled with complications from a knee replacement. He endured many surgeries and treatments. In May he was overjoyed to finally have his new knee and begin healing again. He was anticipating his rehab journey and being able to walk again on 2 legs instead of 6 (with the walker) … to his surprise and ours, God called him home. He is running now!
Kavan had a deep love for his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, 3 uncles and his infant brother, Billy Jr.
He is survived by his parents Bill and Gracie Simcik, sister June Shirocky, his wife of 26 years, Michele Simcik, and two sons Aaron and Jackson Simcik.
He will be missed by an abundance of extended family including his in laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, 6 nephews, 1 niece, and 1 great niece along with numerous friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation at TPWF.org.
This is the best way to honor Kavan's memory.
