Juanita Torres

Juanita “Janie” Torres was born March 8, 1935 in Seguin, Texas. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 84 on April 29, 2019.

She was raised in Taylor, Texas with 7 brothers and 2 sisters. She worked at American Desk for 10 years and in-home healthcare for 25 years. She was involved in many ministries at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church including Choir, Women of Grace, Guadalupanas, Catholic Daughters of America and Fuego Nuevo.

Janie is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Maria de Jesus Torres, brothers Guadalupe and Pedro Torres, sister Maria “Dee Dee” Torres and granddaughter Michelle Perez.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Mendoza of Bartlett, Texas and son, Victor Perez also of Bartlett. Sister Tita Cortez and husband Manuel of Bartlett. Brothers, Filomeno and wife Lupe, Johnny and wife Louisa, Deacon Alfredo “Freddy” Torres, Florentino and wife Sally, and Severino and wife Lupe all of Taylor. Brothers Gilbert Torres and Paul Torres of Killeen. 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

A celebration of Juanita’s life will be held at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas on Thursday, May 2, 2019 with viewing from 5-7 pm and Rosary beginning at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 10 am. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery.
