Juan Martinez Carlin Jr, better known as “Cricket” passed away at the young age of 51 on Saturday, May 14, 2022 in Round Rock, Texas after battling stage 4 kidney and liver disease.
Cricket was born in Taylor, Texas to Juan Martinez Sr. and Mary Ann (Cruz) Carlin with one sister JoAnn Carlin (niece Amber Dominguez Trevino, great nephew Jaiden, great nieces Mallerie and Layla). Married (and divorced) to his middle school sweetheart Angela, they gave birth after high school to two sons: Robert John-Michael and Joshua Alexander Carlin. Sharing six grandchildren; Marquis, Nazarehn, Laila, John, Mecca and Ezra. Cricket had various jobs throughout the years, trained as a meat cutter, he worked in multiple restaurants, was a car porter at David McDavid Acura, manual labor placing cable for J&P Splicers, dabbled in home improvement work laying carpet and tile and did odd jobs around town to make ends meet.
Cricket grew up in Round Rock, Texas and enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family. Growing up, he always wanted to become a boxer and even won the Golden Glove Championship in the Junior Olympics under the name “The Titanic Hispanic”. Boxing was just one of his many passions; he also loved cruising country roads, jamming Latin Hip Hop, breakdancing and just making people laugh, even if at times, it was at his own expense. He loved his family, even those not blood related as everyone was his cuz, but most importantly he just loved to love. He always had your back and would go out of his way to make sure people felt safe. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
Cricket is preceded in death by his parents Mary Ann and Johnny Carlin. Cricket is survived by his children Michael and Joshua, his six grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, too many to name, but all loved equally.
No burial will take place after services as his final wishes were for cremation.
