Joseph Oscar Mott

Joseph Oscar Mott passed away on September 6, 2018 at the age of 92, in Elgin, Texas.

Oscar was born February 8, 1926 in Jonah, Texas to J.O. Mott and Myrtle Mott.  On March 1, 1947 he married Ellie Mae Palla, the love of his life.

Oscar farmed, was a mechanic, automotive service manager, taught classes for Studebaker & eventually returned to Taylor, Texas to work for Pontiac and then retired.  After retirement he worked part-time for the American National Insurance and ended his working career as a Taylor ISD bus driver.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing dominoes, gardening, walking his dog, feeding the ducks, and going to Lake Buchanan to his lake house.  Mostly he enjoyed time with family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Oscar has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Taylor, Texas for decades.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Wallace Gene Mott, brothers, Edgar and Charles Mott, sisters, Leda Faye Wieland, Annie Partian and Nora Dean Schneider.

Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Flint (Glen) of Taylor and JoAnn Ging (Scott) of Coupland, sister, Nathalie Kirk, grandchildren, Lisa White (Jason), Travis Flint (Dana), Samantha Valchar (Matt), Clayton Ging (Amber), and Caleb Ging, great-grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey and Justin White, Jo Hannah and Lee Valchar and Charley Ging.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at Providence Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 10 AM, at Providence Funeral Home with Pastor Martin Garrison officiating.  Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.

His family would like to thank the Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elgin, Texas for the wonderful care and dedication that they have provided to him the past 9 years.
