Jon David Ash

March 29, 1964 — May 17, 2023

David, a passionate music lover, a devoted fan of the Texas Longhorns, and a kind-hearted individual passed away on May 17, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

David was born on March 29, 1964, in Austin, Texas, to Joy and Jerry Ash.  He grew up in Taylor, Texas, where he attended Taylor High School.  He was a multi-talented student and excelled on the football field and in the choir.  His passion for music led him to join the school choir where he discovered his beautiful singing voice.  David was also a gifted football player who was dedicated to his team and his school.   After high school, David attended Abilene Christian University for his bachelor degree, and where he continued to pursue his love for music and football.  He then worked for Merchants Press in Taylor, and for JMJ Associates in Austin.

David’s love for music was an integral part of his life.  He found solace, joy, and inspiration in the melodies that resonated through his soul.  He was known for his beautiful voice, his skilled bass playing, and his ability to connect with his audience.  He played in various bands throughout his life and even played on the stage at the Grand Ole Opry with his college band, Lariat.  He was most alive when performing.  As an ardent supporter of the Texas Longhorns, he exemplified unwavering loyalty, cheering on his team with great enthusiasm. He also loved spending time with his dog, Bodi, taking him for long walks and playing fetch in the park.

David had a gift for conversation and a genuine interest in connecting with people.  He possessed a kind heart that embraced everyone he encountered, making them feel valued and heard.  His warmth and compassion provided comfort and inspiration to those around him.

David is survived by his wife, Terí, who shared in his passions, dreams, and unwavering love.  Together, they created a bond that will endure beyond his physical presence, a testament to their enduring commitment.  He is also survived by his loving mother, Joy Ash; his brothers, Dean Ash and Carl Ash; mother-in-law, Barbara Peters (Richard) Gilmore; sister-in-law, Traci Peters; brother-in-law, Brandon Peters; and his amazing, loyal dog, Bodi.

David’s passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched and the legacy of kindness and compassion that he leaves behind.  He was a shining example of what it means to be a caring and compassionate member of the community, and his legacy will continue to inspire others for years to come.

David supported the Woodlawn Baptist Church mission project to build homes for those less fortunate in Penitas, Texas in South Texas.  The family is requesting that gifts be made in memory of David to the “Colonia Mission Project” in lieu of flowers.
