Mr. Johnnie J. Zycha, 88 of Granger went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 27, 2018.
Johnnie was born on January 23, 1930 to John and Bertha Zycha of Noack. Johnnie attended school in Beyersville.
On August 26, 1950 he married the love of his life Dorothy Lee Prcin. They enjoyed 64 years together. They had one son Lonnie Dean Zycha who was their pride and joy. Johnnie was a member of the Taylor Bretheren Church. A longtime member of the Taylor Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed traveling with his family and always insisted on being the chauffeur. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed sports. Texas Longhorns, San Antonio Spurs, and his favorite The Dallas Cowboys. Among his favorite possessions was an autographed cowboy hat signed by Drew Pearson. Johnnie was never seen leaving the house without his hat. Johnnie also supported the Taylor little league baseball. He was referred to as Mr. Fix it because there was nothing he couldn’t fix. He even built the family home in the country. He loved animals and he loved Dorothy’s home cooking. But most of all he loved his family. Lonnie Dean Zycha, Jr. better known as “Lovebug” was the light of his life.
Johnnie was a farmer for many years. He also worked in the furniture business for decades. Slyder Furniture, Titsworth Furniture, Rolaine Furniture, and Furniture Centre of Round Rock just to name a few.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Bertha, his wife Dorothy Zycha, and two brothers Emil Zycha and Henry Zycha.
Left to cherish in his memories are his son Lonnie D. Zycha, Sr. and wife Connie. His grandson Lonnie Dean Zycha, Jr. (Lovebug). A sister-in-law Sybil Shrader. Numerous nieces and nephews and his extended family at Granger Villa.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday January 31, 2018 at the Taylor City Cemetery at 3:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers it is asked for memorial be made to the Taylor Volunteer Fire Department in his name. The address is Taylor Volunteer Fire Department P.O. Box 711 Taylor, TX 76574.
