John Randall Stiles
John Randall Stiles known to many as “Dunk” was born in Taylor, Texas on June 27, 1952 to John Vernon & Evelyn Stiles.
He was a life long resident of Taylor, Texas. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1970 and was a 1974 Graduate of Texas A&M University with a B.A. in Agricultural Education
After graduating from Texas A&M University, his love of agriculture led him to a career in farming and ranching in Thorndale, Texas on his family land. The long family history of agriculture in this area led him to put down his roots in the family business.
In 1978 he began an agriculture fertilizer company, Central Texas Fertilizer Company, with his business partners Kenneth Krueger & Randall Tucek, which then led him to his next chapter is his career.
In December 1981, John started a career with IGC, which later evolved into Luminant, where he spanned a career of 35 years in the role of Lead Chemist.
John was a wonderful husband, father, and “Papa” to his five grandchildren. John was not a stranger to “little lady tea parties” with his granddaughters or you could find him often hanging out at the stock shows cheering on his grandkids. He was a loving brother, uncle, and best friend to many. He had a very close relationship with his family, which was the most important thing and the biggest single joy in John’s life. He was the kind of man that would help a friend or stranger in need at any time. His work ethic was immeasurable and his love of his family could not be explained enough in words.
He loved spending time in “Aggieland,” his Alma Matter, with friends and family. His joy of cooking for family events and gathering around the table for special meals with his siblings was something done often. If you knew John, you knew his love for Texas Barbecue was immense and his appetite was insatiable. He loved the hospitality aspect of family gatherings, and making sure everyone was smiling and having a good time was always on his mind.
To say he will be missed, we cannot find the right words to express. The world was such a better place with him in it.
John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Glynda Wade Stiles, daughter & son in law Tammy and Jimmy Patin of Thorndale, Texas, Son & Daughter in Law Shane & Catherine Stiles of Austin, Texas, and son Chase Stiles of Taylor, Texas, and five grandchildren Kayla, Devin, and Stiles Patin, and Stella and Ava Stiles and Adanya Bryant.
