John Arthur Bigon

John Arthur Bigon Sr, 96, of Taylor went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021.  He passed away peacefully at Scott and White Hospital in Round Rock surrounded by his family.

John Arthur Bigon Sr. was born on August 31st, 1924 in Temple, Texas to John William and Annie (Zavodny) Bigon.  He grew up with one sister and three brothers.  While helping out on his family's farm, he attended school in Granger, Texas and graduated in 1941.  John married the love of his life, Mary Slagle Bigon, on July 8th, 1948.  John and Mary had two sons: John Jr. and Jimmy.

In 1943, John joined the navy and was a gunners mate in WWII on a destroyer escort in the Philippines.  He received an honorable discharge as a Seaman First Class USNR in March of 1946.

In the early sixties, John and Mary acquired the John Deere dealership known as Bigon Implement.  He always had a passion for the agriculture industry.  After his retirement in 2000, John stayed busy on their farms attending to his crops and cattle until his passing.  In 2017, John was recognized and received the Ag Professional of the Year Award.

In addition to farming, John enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing poker with his friends.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his parents, and his brothers Edward and Albert Bigon.

John is survived by his children, Johnny Bigon (wife Janice), Jimmy Bigon (wife Keli); grandchildren, Angela Arthur, Tiffany Gil, Jamie Bigon, Jennifer Bigon, Jimmy Bigon II, Justin Bigon (wife Andrea), Braden Bigon, Peyton Bigon; several great-grandchildren; and sister, Bernadette Neigut (husband Joe), and brother, Dan Bigon.

The family would like to thank the staff of the SPJST Nursing Home for the love, care, and support during his time there in rehab.

A Visitation will be held to celebrate John's life from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 13th, 2021 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas. A Private memorial service will be held at a later date.
