Our beloved and kindhearted Joel Jaime Gamez passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends in Round Rock on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the age of 47.
Joel was born on June 2, 1972 to E.G. “Chicho” and Florinda (Dominguez) Gamez. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1990 and went on to attend TSTI in Waco to pursue a vocational degree as a mechanic. He then went on to open up Gamez Machine & Truck, his module trucking business, GMT, managed and ran the Taylor Gin along with working cattle on the weekend. Chicho would be proud of Joel following in his footsteps. He wasn’t scared of work either, putting in many hours every week and enjoyed a good beverage and barbeque with his close friends on weekends.
Joel will be dearly missed by anyone who was blessed enough to meet him. Joel would do anything for anybody, without hesitation or question, as anybody would do for him. Joel’s biggest partner in life was his son, Daryn.
From working cows on weekends and helping at the gin to racing down the highway in the module trucks seeing who could load up a module faster, it was always a competition between the two, no matter what they were doing. With all of that being said, Joel will be truly missed by many as he touched many hearts. He always had the biggest dreams in life
He is preceded in death by his parents E.G. “Chicho” and Florinda D. Gamez; grandparents Claudio & Concepcion Gamez and Manuel & Elena Dominguez; late wife Sherri Marcon; and numerous aunts & uncles and loved family members.
Joel is survived by his companion Teri Ochoa and two sons Ethan & Easton Ochoa; his son Daryn; brothers Jose E. (Shelly) Gamez and Claude Gamez; sister Sylvia Gamez; a special uncle he cherished like a second dad, Jesse Gamez; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, extended family, and a beloved Yorkie, Koko.
