Joe Dean Richardson, of Thorndale, passed away peacefully at the age of 86. Born on July 14, 1938, to Jesse and Opal Richardson, Joe was a man who built his life on the values of hard work, dedication, and unwavering love for his family and community.
Joe was the devoted husband of Judith Richardson, with whom he shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Opal Richardson; his son, Steve Richardson; and his granddaughter, Samantha Oliveras.
Joe leaves behind his wife, Judith; along with his children: William (Billy) Richardson and wife Robin, Terry Richardson and wife Ronda, and Christie Unnasch and husband Andrew. He was a proud Pawpaw to 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, and family friends also held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his three brothers: Lowell Richardson (and wife Judy Kay), Sherman Dale Richardson (and wife Betty), and Cloyd Richardson (and wife Linda).
Throughout his life, Joe embraced a variety of roles. He worked as a machinist at General Dynamics, served on the maintenance staff at Thrall High School, and spent time as a lumberman at Thorndale Lumber Yard, among other endeavors. No matter the job, Joe’s hands were always busy—whether building something new or fixing what others thought couldn’t be repaired. His ingenuity and resourcefulness were unmatched, and he was always ready to lend a hand to those in need.
Beyond his work, Joe found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially fishing on the Texas coast. He spent many summers there, casting his line and creating treasured memories with family and friends. His love for the sea and its tranquility was a reflection of his own peaceful and steady spirit.
Joe’s loyal companion, his dog Dude, was always by his side—a testament to Joe’s gentle and caring nature.
Joe will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and the profound impact he had on everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. His life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and the joy of a well-lived life.
The pallbearers are Eric Richardson, Travis Richardson, Camron Richardson, Brady Unnasch, Savoy Burnett, and Lanny Sharp.
